If your BOY was bitten by a dog or he is just afraid of dogs, it doesn’t mean there is nothing you can do to help your kid with overcoming this fear.

Many adults are often shy and hide the fact that they have cynophobia (fear of dogs), because they are sure that this problem can’t be solved and it’s better not to tell anybody. But in fact, it’s possible to get rid of fear at any age, no matter if it’s your issue or the fear of your kid.

Don’t judge

If your kid is afraid of dogs, the first thing you have to do is to stop blaming him and feeling ashamed. Don’t forget that for you dogs don’t seems to be so big, depending on the breed of course. But for your kid the dog is a huge animal, which is barking and looks aggressive.

Just try to understand your child, and this will be enough for the first step of concurring the fear.

Speak about the fear

It’s important to speak about cynophobia and admit it. Passing by few dogs,  take a hand of your child and tell him that he is safe because he is not alone and you will protect him from a beast. Make the kid say that he is afraid of dogs.

Watch your words

Make sure what words you use, talking to your child about dogs. It’s better not say that this dog is not vicious or that the dog doesn’t bite. If the kid was bitten by a dog before, you will not be able to prove that dogs don’t bite.
